FAQs
How much does the consultation cost?
Our consultation is completely free, with no obligation to proceed.
What do I need to prepare before the consultation?
Bring or send whatever you already know: names, dates, places, immigration info, or any documents you have. The more detail, the better we can assess your case.
Will I need to commit to a full research package after the consultation?
No – the consultation is simply to discuss your situation, clarify your goals, and provide a clear next-step plan. You decide if and when to proceed.
What happens during the consultation?
We’ll review the details you’ve provided and then conduct a quick preliminary search. As well as, review what you know, ask targeted questions, explain what archives might hold your records, and outline possible research paths.
How long does it take to get results once we start research?
Research timelines vary depending on the region, the archives involved and the complexity of the case. Many cases take a few weeks; more complex ones (multiple locations, missing records, etc.) may take longer.
What types of records can you retrieve?
We handle: birth, marriage, death records (civil & church); notarial records; emigration/passenger lists; military and census records — depending on availability in the relevant Italian archives.
Can you help with dual citizenship (jure sanguinis) applications?
Yes. If your goal includes securing Italian citizenship, our team will locate the necessary records, verify them, and guide you on how to use them for your application.
What if I only know the surname and a general region in Italy?
That’s okay. We’ll assess the feasibility of research based on what you know, and help you determine whether the records likely exist and where they’re located.
Do you provide translations and certified copies of documents?
Yes. We provide English summaries of Italian/Latin documents, and we can request certified copies from Italian civil or parish offices if needed for legal use.
Are there any records that cannot be accessed?
In some cases records may be missing (destroyed, lost, not yet digitised or restricted) especially for older time periods or in certain regions. We’ll always inform you if this is the case in your consultation.
